Ashton McKinnon is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Mokri Vanis & Jones where she focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including insurance defense, construction defect, real estate, business and professional liability, premises liability, contract disputes and other general tort claims.
Prior to joining MVJ, Ashton’s practice included a variety of matters involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, premises liability, products liability, construction defect, automobile/trucking liability, employment law, health care liability, business litigation, breach of contract, subrogation and recovery, and retail/restaurant/hospitality and personal injury defense.
Ashton has extensive experience with all aspects of handling complex civil litigation from inception through trial, and practices with a focused approached on early resolution through alternative dispute resolution methods to minimize client risk and exposure.
Originally from St. Simons Island, Georgia, Ashton received her BA in Journalism from the University of Georgia, cum laude, in 2011. She earned her JD from Pepperdine University School of Law and a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute, in 2015, where she was a writer and associate editor for the Journal of the National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary. Her publications include "Sacrificing Privacy for Convenience: The Need for Stricter FTC Regulations in an Age of Smartphone Surveillance", (2014)(34 J. Nat'l Ass'n Admin. L. Judiciary 484).
Ashton is duly authorized to practice law in California before all state and federal courts. She was admitted to the State Bar of California and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 2016.
